These terms cover your use of Hook Wise, the fishing app at hookwiseapp.com, including Hook Wise Pro. By using the app or subscribing, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Hook Wise.

The short version

• Hook Wise is a planning tool. Always check real conditions, the weather and the rules before you go out, and use your own judgment on the water.
• The free version is free. Hook Wise Pro is a subscription that renews until you cancel.
• You can cancel anytime. You keep Pro until the end of the time you've paid for.

Using Hook Wise

You can use Hook Wise for your own personal, non-commercial fishing. Please don't misuse it: don't try to break, overload or copy the app or its service, get around Pro features or codes, resell access, or use it for anything illegal. We may limit or end access for anyone who does.

Conditions and information are for planning only

Hook Wise shows bite scores, best times, weather, tides, river levels, sun and moon times, maps, fishing spots, artificial reefs and other structures, fish identification and fishing tips. This information comes from public sources (such as the National Weather Service, USGS, NOAA, state wildlife agencies and OpenStreetMap) and from our own estimates. It can be late, incomplete or wrong.

• Not for navigation or safety. Don't rely on Hook Wise for boating, navigation, weather warnings or any safety decision. Check official forecasts and charts, wear a life jacket and use common sense.
• Bite scores and best times are predictions, not promises. Fish don't always cooperate.
• Fish ID can be wrong. Confirm the species yourself before keeping a fish.
• Follow the rules. You're responsible for having a valid fishing license and following size limits, bag limits, seasons, closed areas and private property rules. Check your state's regulations (in Florida, FWC) before you fish. A spot showing on the map doesn't mean fishing is allowed there.

Hook Wise Pro subscriptions

• Plans. Pro is $3.99 a month or $24.99 a year, plus any sales tax. Prices are shown before you pay.
• Free trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. A card is required. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your plan starts and you're charged automatically.
• Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews each month or year at the then-current price until you cancel. If we ever raise prices, we'll tell you before the new price applies, and you can cancel before it does.
• Who processes payments. Payments are handled by Stripe and sold through Link (Stripe Managed Payments). Their terms and privacy policy also apply to your payment. We never see your full card number.
• Cancelling. Cancel anytime with “Manage or cancel subscription” in the app, or by emailing [email protected]. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
• Refunds. Payments aren't refunded for partial months or years, except where the law requires it. If you were charged by mistake or something isn't working, email us and we'll make it right.
• Your email. Use an email address you check. It's how you'll manage or cancel your plan.

Gift and promo codes

Gift and promo codes give free Pro for the time stated with the code. They have no cash value, can't be sold or exchanged, and may expire. We may cancel codes that are shared publicly without permission, sold, or used in a way we didn't intend.

Your catch log and data

Your catches, photos and saved spots are stored on your phone, not on our servers. You own them. If you clear your browser data, delete the app or switch phones, they can be lost, so use Export on the Log tab to keep a backup. See our Privacy Policy for how the app handles information.

Changes to the app

We're always improving Hook Wise. We may add, change or remove features, including which features are free and which are Pro. If a change takes away something important you're paying for, you can cancel.

Our content

The Hook Wise name, logo, design and our own text and code belong to us. Map data, public data and images from other sources belong to their owners and are credited in the app.

No warranty

Hook Wise is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will always work, be error-free, or be accurate, and we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Hook Wise and its owner aren't responsible for any injury, loss or damage that comes from fishing, boating, being on or near the water, or relying on information in the app. Our total responsibility for any claim about Hook Wise is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Age

You must be at least 13 to use Hook Wise. To buy a Pro subscription, you must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian's permission.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If you keep using Hook Wise after a change, the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States.
